REMOTE SITE MANAGEMENT

Businesses whose activities are spread across several sites have to deal with the increased complexity of traditional workstation management tasks. Very often, the greater the number of sites, the less it will be possible to call on local skills to carry out any necessary operations. In certain cases, remote control management can meet many needs, but it is an approach of limited use once it becomes necessary, for example, to completely reinstall every workstation. There is no option other than a site visit from the operational IT team if hardware components have to be physically handled.

Also, even if some applications are used at large sites on a regular basis, the same does not necessarily apply to small outposts. However, if occasional use is still required for professional purposes, it may become necessary to install the applications at all sites.

Thanks to its centralized functions, workstation virtualization massively simplifies traditional workstation management tasks. The use of thin clients and read-only virtual PCs cuts down the number of visits required. The amount of network resources required for display forwarding is limited to an average 25Kbits/sec per access point. The centralized architecture makes it possible for a group of users to share applications, irrespective of their physical location. The number of licences required may well turn out to be fewer than those needed in a multi-site environment.
