The workstations have a variable life depending on the environments and must be renewed in regular intervals. Until now,  it was logical to replace the ancient workstations with more recent, notably to monitor the trend of resource consumption imposed by some publishers. But a simple study on the functioning of a workstation (either in CPU or disk) shows that on average, resources are used less than 5% in a large majority of cases. This type of observation has led many organizations to virtualize servers and now it is legitimate to consider it for workstations.
