Functions:
Neocoretech Desktop Virtualization (NDV) is a complete workstation virtualization software system that provides the following functions:
• Centralized logical components (OS + Applications)
The NDV solution contains it own hypervisor that enables parallel operation of virtual machines, to which the software components that comprise a conventional PC are remotely forwarded. Personalization of system properties (host name, MAC address, etc.) is fully transparent, as is the process of adding to a directory (if required).
• Workstation lifecycle management
With the NDV solution, all tasks traditionally associated with managing workstations are carried out simply by dragging & dropping: defining/updating the virtual PC properties (CPU, memory), constructing and updating templates (or masters), activating/deleting/updating virtual PCs as a function of specific professional needs, etc. The administrator can create virtual PCs that are either write-enabled or read-only. Read-only machines make it possible to offer "a new workstation every morning ", as they return to their original configuration every time they launch.
• Resource usage optimization (CPU, storage)
The NDV solution offers detailed control of the resources (CPU, memory) made available to the virtual PC. Disk space is optimized thanks to the use of a differential storage technique applied to templates and virtual PCs (write-enabled and read-only) alike.
• Access to a virtual PC
The multi-protocol connection manager incorporated into the NDV solution returns a single address to the access points and enables dynamic load balancing across the hypervisors available within the architecture.
• Access to a portal of virtual PCs
The connection manager is able to present users with a portal which they then use to freely select the working environment, for example as a function of particular professional needs. This means that it is potentially possible to access every application available within an organization via any available access point.
• Manage user mobility
The connection manager enables users to move freely from one access point to another, where they will be able to regain their own environment with the applications still running.
